In particular, works such as The Signalman, a 1974 production of the Charles Dickens classic ghost story starring Denholm Elliott. He also sites as sources of inspiration, episodes of Nigel Kneales' Beasts from 1976, The Stone Tape from 1972, Ghost Stories for Christmas from the 70s, 80s and a recent revival by Neil Cross and Mark Gatiss.

His literary inspirations include Liverpool born authors Clive Barker, Lee Walker and Ramsey Campbell.

Though he has written extensively for magazines, newspapers, websites and local publications as well as contributing to several published works, his first book, Dead Trees, was published in 2025 with a second volume arriving in 2026.
